Overview
If you are based in the United States, you will be prompted to register your dedicated phone number in Jobber. All businesses that use two-way text messaging through a dedicated phone number are required in the United States to register their business's number. This regulation is part of an effort by carriers to prevent unwanted messages or spam from reaching their clients. If your number is not successfully registered and processed by August 31, 2023, your two-way text messaging service will be blocked on that date. Learn more about dedicated phone numbers.

If you need to register your dedicated phone number, admin users will see a banner when accessing Jobber.com. The banner will include the status of your dedicated phone number registration. Select Complete Registration from the banner to go through the registration process.

Enter your legal Business Name.
- Select your legal Business Type. The business type selected should match any legal documents for your business. If you register your dedicated phone number as the wrong business type, your registration will be rejected.
Business types
From the Business Type dropdown your options are:- Sole Proprietorship: A sole proprietorship is the most straightforward type of business structure, where one person owns and operates the business. If you are a sole proprietor, you do not have to submit your Tax ID (EIN) to register your number.
- Partnership: A partnership is a business structure where two or more people share ownership of the business, including profits and liabilities. Partnerships do not create a separate legal entity from the partners, and each partner is personally liable for the business’s debts and obligations.
- Limited Liability Corporation (LLC): An LLC is a hybrid business structure that combines the liability protection of a corporation with the tax benefits of a partnership.
- Co-operative: Cooperatives are businesses owned by “member-owners”. Co-ops are democratically controlled by their member-owners, and unlike a traditional business, each member gets a voice in how the business is run.
- Non-profit Corporation: A nonprofit corporation is a special type of corporation that is formed for charitable, educational, or religious purposes. This structure is exempt from federal and state income taxes and allows for tax-deductible donations to the organization.
- Corporation: A corporation—which includes an S corp or a C corp—is a separate legal entity that’s owned by shareholders. The corporation is responsible for its own debts and liabilities, and profits are taxed separately from the owners’ personal income. Corporations also offer limited liability protection to their owners.

Enter the Tax ID (EIN) associated with your business.
- Enter your Business Address used for tax purposes. This must be a physical address and should also be associated with your Tax ID.
- Enter your point of contact’s name, position, email address, and mobile phone number. The point of contact's phone number must be able to receive a text message, so it cannot be a landline or a VOIP number. The point of contact will be used to complete messaging service registration and may also be contacted to verify business details.
- Enter your business’ valid website or social media link.
Note: Requirements for your website below. - Double-check all of the above information for consistency: where possible, your business name, website/social media URL and email address domain should be similar.
For example: if your email is joe@plumlandscaping.com, then your website address should be plumlandscaping.com - Double-check all of the above information for accuracy: typos, incorrect Tax IDs, and invalid website URLs will all result in your registration being rejected.
Requirements for your website
In order to ensure your communications are being received by your clients, you must register your dedicated phone number with the required information.
Here are a few things you can do to help reduce the chance of any delays on your registration:
- Ensure the website or social media link you provided is working. This is part of the approval process to ensure your organization is a legitimate business.
- Ensure the website or social media link you provided indicates your legally registered business name and address. If you are using a social media link, please ensure it’s a link to your main page on the network, ideally including the name of your business in the URL. Fake websites or broken URLs will be rejected. (Example: use http://facebook.com/yourbusiness, not http://facebook.com/yourbusiness/photos).
If different, you can add this information to your website’s footer or as part of your Terms online. This will help support the validation that your business is legitimate. - Use opt-in language on any online contact forms you have set up. Your website will be vetted for compliance with SMS opt-in requirements. If you are not using Jobber’s work request or online booking form, your contact form must include a disclaimer letting customers know that by submitting it, they consent to receive text messages from your company.
If you don’t have this now, here’s what you can add to your form:
“By providing your phone number, you agree to receive text messages from Your Company Name. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.”
The registration form will be visible to all admin users, but only one needs to complete it. The phone number entered here should be the phone number of the point of contact, not your company's dedicated phone number since we already have that on file for the registration.
Once the form has been filled out, click Submit.
