What types of jobs can be imported from your Google Calendar into Jobber?
The following types of jobs can be imported from you Google Calendar into Jobber:
- Upcoming jobs: Only jobs scheduled in the next two months will be imported. Events beyond this time frame won't be included in the import. Both one-off and recurring jobs can be imported from Google Calendar.
- No historical jobs: Past events from your Google Calendar will not be included in the import.
- One-time import design: The Google Calendar import is a one-time process. If you re-import your calendar, Jobber will attempt to avoid duplicates, but some may still occur. The import process is not a sync with Google Calendar. This is a temporary connection that will end once the import is complete. Any new events created in Google calendar after the import will not appear in Jobber and will need to be added to Jobber.
- 5000 jobs can be imported at one time through the import.
What info is needed in Google Calendar for jobs to import into Jobber?
For an event in Google Calendar to be imported into Jobber as a job, the event needs to have all of the following items:
- An address where the event will take place
- A client name (this can be in either the event title or description)
- A title or description that indicates this event is a job (For example, an event called "Doctor's Appointment" or "Birthday Party" would not be imported because these wouldn't be interpreted as jobs, however "Mow at John's house" would be imported since this can be interpreted as a job)
Before starting the import, look over your events in Google Calendar to make sure they have all three of these details. If your events do not have all three of these things, they will likely be rejected during the import.
How to import your jobs from Google Calendar
Users who have permissions to create jobs are able to use to the job import.
To get started with importing your jobs from Google Calendar:
1. Navigate to Jobs from the side navigation, then select More Actions > Import Jobs. From the pop up, select Import Google Calendar.
2. Next, you will be prompted to connect to your Google account so that Jobber can access your calendar. Select your email address from the list that is associated with the calendar that will be imported, then select Connect Google Account to begin.
You will be prompted to log into your Google account and grant Jobber read-only access to your Google calendar, meaning it Jobber can only view your events for the import. The events on your Google calendar cannot be modified, deleted, or created by Jobber with this access.
Note: At this time, Jobber cannot segment by individual calendars within a given email address. If you have events across multiple calendars, under the same account, only the primary calendar will be imported.
3. Once your Google account is connected, the import will start. The import process may take a few minutes depending on the number of events being analyzed and imported. While the import is running, do not close your window or navigate away.
Jobber uses AI to analyze your events and identify which items are likely jobs. Events that are not considered jobs will be rejected and displayed in the import summary.
Events that are identified as jobs but do not contain required information to create a job in Jobber (for example, it's unclear who the client is, or what property the job takes place at) will also be rejected and displayed in the import summary.
Once the import is complete, you will see a banner letting you know the import was successful as well as the number of:
- imported jobs
- imported clients
- imported properties
- rejected events
Once the import is complete, refresh the page to see the newly imported jobs in your jobs list. Give these new jobs a review to make sure everything was imported into Jobber correctly.
