Overview
In Jobber, clients own properties and properties are the locations where work is performed. Properties are associated with quotes and jobs. Invoices are associated with a client's billing address, but if the invoice was created from a job, then the property address from the job will also appear on the invoice. If you are batch creating invoices from jobs, then you might have multiple properties associated with an invoice.
Creating properties
You can create a property from a few different spots in Jobber:
- When creating a new client
- From a client's page
- When creating a new work item
Create a new property while creating a new client
Start by navigating to the client list by clicking Clients from the side navigation menu.
From the clients list, click New Client.
This will bring you to the client creation page, where you can input the client's property details on the right. Properties in Jobber all must belong to a client.
When you start typing in the property address, we autofill the address using Google Maps. If you see the correct address from the list, you can select it and the rest of the information will be filled in for you. Once an address is entered, there will be a button that shows the location in Google Maps.
If the autofill in the property search isn't locating your property, you can enter the property details yourself instead of using the autofill. From the property search dropdown, select the option to Use the property details that you have typed in so far. This is a good option if you are working somewhere that might not be on Google Maps yet, such as new construction.
Clicking Create Client will save this property under your newly created client.
If you need to make any updates, you can go back into the property edit screen from the client profile by clicking More Actions > Edit. This time, it won't show the property search bar. Instead you can manually make changes to the address.
To add additional properties to a client, take a look below where you can learn to add properties through a client's page.
Create a new property for an existing client
To create a new property for an existing client, you can add that property directly from the client's profile. Start by navigating to the client, you can find them by searching using the global search (magnifying glass icon) in the top right of your account, or by searching for the client from the clients list. Once on the client's page, from the Properties section click + New Property to input the property information.
This will bring you to a screen where you can input this property's information. When you start typing in the property address, suggestions will appear based on your text. If the address you are looking for doesn't appear, select the Use option (pencil icon) to enter it manually.
Once all the relevant fields for this property are filled in, click Create Property to save.
Create a new property when creating a new work item
Another way to create a new property is to add one while creating a new work item (such as a request, quote, job, or invoice) that isn't already linked to a client. From the side navigation menu, click Create then select the type of item you'd like to create.
You will then be prompted to select a client for this new item. If the client hasn't been added to your Jobber account yet, click Create New Client. If they already exist, search and select them from the list.
If you selected an existing client, you'll be taken to start creating a new item for them. From the property details section of that page, click Change.
You will then be prompted to select from the client's existing properties or create a new one. To add a new property for this client, click Create New Property.
Fill out the relevant details for the property you're creating. When you're done, click Create Property and this property will be saved.
You'll now see this property belonging to the client it was created for. You'll also be returned to the work item you started creating, so you can get back to business right away.
Property details page
From the client's page, click the property address from the Properties section to open the property details page. You can also navigate here by using the global search and searching the property address.
The property details page is where you'll find an overview of all the upcoming and past work at that property address.
From the Overview section, there are tabs to view this property's:
- Active work
- Requests
- Quotes
- Jobs
- Chemical treatments
Note: there is no tab for invoices from the property details page since invoices are associated with the client's billing address, even when a property address appears on an invoice.
The property details page also breaks down the pricing most recently used at this property as well as the tax rate that has been added to the property.
There is also a section that shows the upcoming schedule for events at this property. This includes quote reminders, tasks, and visits.
Adjust a map pin for a property
If you find that one of your properties isn't being properly geolocated when getting directions, you can adjust the map pin for a property so that it directs to the right location in Google Maps. You might also need to adjust the map pin if you see the red map icon on one of your visits when using the map view of the schedule.
To adjust a map pin, navigate to the Property details page. Then click More Actions > Adjust Map Location.
On the Adjust Map Location screen there are three ways to update the map pin:
- Manual placement: click and drag the pin on the map to the correct location, then click Save.
- Based on location: if you are currently at the property, click Use Your Current Location to put the pin where you currently are, then click Save.
- By coordinates: enter the latitude and longitude for the property, then click Save.
Delete a property
To delete a property, navigate to the property page. You can get here by clicking on the property address from the client page in Jobber, or by using the global search.
Deleting a property will delete associated quotes, jobs, and their associated estimate and price figures.
From the property details page, click Edit.
Then from the edit screen, click Delete.
Once you select Delete on a property, before it's removed you will be asked to acknowledge this warning:
"By deleting this property, you will also be deleting all of its quotes, jobs and their associated estimate and price figures. Note that Jobber's reporting will no longer take these items into account, which could potentially skew your report figures."
Select Delete Property to confirm that you want to delete the property. Once deleted, this property cannot be recovered.
