Expanding quoting functionality available on the Grow plan.
Quoting with the features available on the Grow plan gives you tools to build flexible quotes that stand out from the competition and show clients exactly what they’ll get. On Grow, five unique features are combined to take your quotes to the next level:
Optional Line Items on Quotes– Give your clients the ability to add items to their quotes. Add-ons can give your client exactly what they're looking for and increase your revenue with a higher quote total.
Line Item Images on Quotes– Make your quotes stand out with images on line items. Showcase your products or share images unique to the client for a more personal quote.
Adding Text to Quotes– Give your clients all the information they need upfront by adding text to your quotes. Text can be used to introduce packages to your client or fill them in on any need to knows.
Quote Follow-ups– Win more work, faster by sending automatic email and/or text message follow-ups to clients about quotes you haven't heard back on.
Markups on Quotes– Add markup to your products and services when building a quote and see your estimated margin so that you set the perfect price.
Each of these quoting features can be used individually or you can combine these to create an even stronger quote. In this article we will share some suggested use cases using the quoting functionality that is available on Grow, but there are many variations on how you can put these features together in your quotes. If you can dream it, you can build it.
Boost your revenue with optional line items
Optional line items can be used to present your customers with optional add-ons to their quote or give them optional packages to pick from, or even both! In this video, Parker demonstrates how to upsell using optional line items.
Optional line items as add-ons
Optional line items can be used to add additional services onto the quote that the customer might not have know or thought to ask for, or services that you think could complement the work that is already being done for the client.
This use case combines using optional line items with adding text.
- Start by adding a regular line item to the quote for the service that the client is specifically reaching out about.
- For any other items that you want to suggest to the client, use the Add Optional Line Item button to add optional items that would be a good add-on with the client's services.
- If you need to add additional descriptions, use the Add Text button to add a line item with no quantity, unit price, or total. Adding text is a good way to add extra information into the body of the quote.
- Save the quote.
When your client selects an add-on in client hub, the items they select automatically get added to the quote total.
Upsell additional line items as packages
Put together several "packages" that your client can select between. By giving your clients options with packages, you can still win work from potential clients who might be budget-conscious as well as those who are happy to spend a bit more for premium services.
This use case combines using optional line items with adding text.
- Start by clicking the Add Text button. This is to add an introduction to your quote to prompt the client to make a selection from the items on this quote. You can also provide any details a client might need to make a selection.
- Add an optional line item for each of the packages your client can select from by clicking Add Optional Line Item. In the line item description, you might want to add details about what services are included with each package level.
- If the line items are out of order, you can use the Drag and Drop Icon to change up the order. If you have any blank line items, delete them.
- Save the quote.
When your client selects one of the packages in client hub, the cost of that package automatically gets added to the quote total.
Build flexible quotes that stand out
Chances are when a customer is getting a quote, they are shopping around and yours is not the only one they're reviewing. In this video, Parker explains how to make your quote stand out from the competition.
Make it personal
To make the quote more personal, you can upload images of your client's property as line item images. These can be images taken while you completed an on-site assessment or images saved from a satellite imagery program such as Google Maps.
By including a picture of the client's property, you can instill confidence in them that the job will be completed accurately and with attention to detail. In the example below, cutting down the wrong tree could be a very costly mistake for your team. Having an image of the correct trees to remove cuts down on the chance of a mistake happening by letting your team and the client see exactly what needs to be removed.
This use case relies on using line item images.
- When creating the quote, there will already be a blank line item waiting for you to fill out. Fill out all the fields on the line item including the title, description, quantity, and unit price.
- Click the Camera Icon and select a photo from your device to upload to this line item.
- Save the quote.
Showcase your products and services
You pride yourself on the products and services you have to offer, so why not show them off in your quotes as well?
This use case relies on using line item images, but can also be combined with optional line items and added text as well.
Start by clicking the Add Text button. This is to add an introduction to your quote to prompt the client to make a selection from the items on this quote. You can also provide any details a client might need to make a selection.
- Click Add Optional Line Item to add choices to the quote about what products are being offered. Fill out all the fields on the line item including the title, description, quantity, and unit price.
- Click the Camera Icon and select a photo from your device to upload to this line item.
- If the line items are out of order, you can use the Drag and Drop Icon to change up the order. If you have any blank line items, delete them.
- Save the quote.
When your client selects one of the line items in client hub, the cost of that line item automatically gets added to the quote total.
Understand your costs
You've put together the perfect quote with your client in mind, but what about you and your business? With markups on quotes, add a markup to the cost of each product or service when building a quote to set the right price and see your estimated margin. The difference between the cost and the sales price will only be visible to you.
Close more leads & follow-up
When a new request comes in, it's important to reply back to the lead as quickly as possible and turn them into a client. In this video, Parker walks you through how to identify new leads quickly, communicate with them instantly, and provide them with a quote.
This use case relies on using quote follow-ups as well as other Grow plan features such as two-way messaging and lead management.
Once you send the quote, you can schedule an automatic follow-up to make sure you never forget to follow-up with a lead again. Since the follow-up is automated, this gives you back the time in your day that you might have spent following up on quotes manually.
- Make sure your quote follow-ups are enabled and have the schedule set correctly. Go to the Gear Icon > Settings > Emails and Text Messages. To enable quote follow-ups, turn the toggle for quote follow-ups to ON. To edit the follow-up verbiage and schedule, click Edit. Once you have finished editing the quote follow-up, hit Save.
- Send a quote to the client.
- Sit back and relax as your quote follow-up will automatically be sent out based on the schedule.
When a client either approves the quote or requests changes in client hub, all admins will be notified by email. For a faster response, admins can also use two-way messaging to chat with the client to find out what their needs are.
And many more
This article has just a few ideas on how to use the quoting functionality that is available on Grow, but there are many more ways you can combine all these features to create a powerful quote that shows off the best of what you have to offer to give the client the services they want.
Happy quoting!
