Missed calls have steep consequences. With your AI Receptionist, you can take time away from your phone without the risk of losing a lead to a competitor, or damaging customer relationships.
Provide 24/7 customer service over call or text. When you’re busy on a job, enjoying personal time, or your admin is focused on other work, your AI Receptionist is there. It can assist customers with anything from answering inquiries, to booking a job in your calendar. You control what it can and can’t do.
AI Receptionist Availability
AI Receptionist is available on the Plus Plan.
AI Receptionist can be added-on to the Grow Plan.
Note: A dedicated phone number in Jobber is required to have AI Receptionist answer calls and text messages.
Unlimited conversations are included during promotional period.
Only admin users can access the AI Receptionist dashboard and settings.

Try your AI Receptionist
Test your AI Receptionist experience before adding it to your plan. Navigate to the AI Receptionist section in the side navigation on Jobber.com and select Test it Out to have your AI Receptionist call you.
Note: You must be on the Plus Plan or Grow Plan to test the AI Receptionist since it requires a dedicated phone number.
Testing the AI Receptionist lets you experience its benefits firsthand before fully integrating it into your operations. By trying it out, you can verify that it handles calls accurately, delivers clear and engaging voice interactions, and fits smoothly into your existing workflow. Testing helps you identify any adjustments needed, ensuring that the system truly enhances your customers' experience.
When testing your AI Receptionist, you'll be taken to the "Try your AI Receptionist" settings.
From this page, make sure your company name is entered correctly. If the AI Receptionist has issues pronouncing your company name, try entering it with a phonetic spelling.
Note: Updating your company name in the AI Receptionist settings won't update your company name across Jobber.
Next, review the phone greeting. To change the tone, select the Adjust tone button then choose an option from the dropdown. Your phone message tone can be made more:
- Casual
- Professional
- Brief
Last, enter the phone number where you'll receive the test call. Then, select the Give me a call button. You will receive a call from your AI Receptionist where you can put yourself in the shoes of your customers and test the experience. For example, you can try:
- Asking it about your products & services, or other common questions you receive
- Book a visit (if you already have online booking set up)
- Request new work (if you already have your request form set up)
Explore the AI Receptionist dashboard
The AI Receptionist dashboard is where you can view the activity of your AI Receptionist.
To view your AI Receptionist dashboard, select AI Receptionist from your side navigation, then make sure you're on the Dashboard tab.

The AI Receptionist dashboard includes sections for:

Status: This includes if your AI Receptionist is accepting both phone calls and text messages. To update the types of interactions your AI Receptionist is having, select the Configure button. There are three statuses:
- "On" indicates that the AI Receptionist is answering any call or text made to your dedicated phone number.
- "Trusted Access" indicates that the Receptionist is only answering calls and texts made from numbers added to your 'trusted access list'. Adding numbers to the trusted access list can be a good way to test the AI Receptionist, or limit it to certain customers.
- "Off" indicates that you do not have a dedicated phone number enabled. The AI Receptionist isn't answering calls or texts.
- Time saved: This card displays the number of minutes and calls/text messages that have been answered by your AI Receptionist. There is also a visualization of the ratio to phone calls to texts.
- Outcomes: The outcomes card displays a visualization of the work created by your AI Receptionist, including jobs, requests, and tasks.

Recent conversations: This is a log of recent AI Receptionist conversations. For each conversation, there is a:
- Timestamp: This is when the conversation occurred.
- Phone number: this is the number the customer called or texted from
- Channel: this will be call or text message
- Summary of the call

Tags: A tag will be added to categorize the action taken by the AI Receptionist, including:
- General inquiry: Your AI Receptionist was able to address the caller inquiry with no more help needed. No work request or job was created.
- Needs action: Your AI Receptionist was not able to address the inquiry. A task will have been created for you to follow-up on.
- Request created: A request was created.
- Assessment scheduled: An assessment was scheduled
- Job scheduled: A job was scheduled.
- Took a message: Your AI Receptionist has created a task in Jobber for you with details of the call, to follow up with the customer.
- Spam: A call unrelated to the business

View details button: Select this button to open the conversation details, including:
- The name of the client
- Their phone number
- Property address
- Summary of the conversation
- Call recording
- Transcript
Test your AI Receptionist
From the AI Receptionist dashboard, you can continue to test your AI Receptionist. Click the Test AI Receptionist button in the top right for testing options.
On the "Test your AI Receptionist" pop-up there are tabs for both phone calls and text messages with information about how to test the AI Receptionist as well as the current status of each communication type.
Manage your AI Receptionist
To manage your AI Receptionist settings, select AI Receptionist from your side navigation, then select Manage.

Text messaging
To enable your AI Receptionist to respond to text messages, set the toggle for text messaging to On.
Trusted phone numbers can be added so that texts from the listed phone numbers can reach your AI Receptionist, even when the toggle is set to Off. To add a trusted phone number, use the + icon.
Text message statuses
Your AI Receptionist handles incoming text messages based on its current status.
- On: The AI Receptionist answers every text sent to your dedicated phone number.
- Trusted Access: The AI Receptionist responds only to texts from numbers on your trusted access list—ideal for testing or limiting interactions to select customers.
- Off: Without a dedicated phone number enabled, the AI Receptionist does not answer texts.
If you wish to test your AI Receptionist, add your personal phone number as a trusted number while keeping the toggle turned off. This will allow you and other trusted numbers to test your AI Receptionist, but it won't interact with your clients or others outside of the trusted phone numbers.
Take over from the AI receptionist
The AI Receptionist can be disabled for individual client conversations from the message center by opening a text conversation and turning off the toggle for AI Receptionist is on for this conversation.
Voice calls
To enable your AI Receptionist to respond to voice calls, set the toggle for voice calls to On.
To add trusted phone numbers can be added so that phone calls from the listed phone numbers can reach your AI Receptionist, set the toggle to Off, then use the + icon to add phone numbers.

Phone greeting
The phone greeting is created automatically by the AI Receptionist. Your company name will be part of the phone greeting and is entered in your phone greeting settings automatically based on how your company name is entered in your company settings. However, if the AI Receptionist has issues pronouncing your company name, try entering it with a phonetic spelling instead.
Note: How your company name is entered in the phone greeting settings won't change how it appears anywhere else in Jobber.
To adjust the tone of the phone greeting, select the Adjust tone button then select an option to make the greeting more:
- Casual
- Professional
- Brief
Voice selection
To change the voice of your AI Receptionist, select a voice from the Voice dropdown. Then, click Play sample to hear how each voice sounds.
Background noise
Including simulated background noise is recommended for AI Receptionist calls. Background noise sounds similar to a call center environment and helps clients know calls are still active during pauses when the AI Receptionist is processing.
To remove background noise, set the background noise toggle to Off.
Actions
Your AI Receptionist can perform a variety of tasks for you including:
- answering questions
- scheduling jobs
- submitting requests
- creating follow-up tasks
When each of these actions are enabled for your AI Receptionist, an "enabled" label appears next to each action type in the Actions section of your AI Receptionist settings.
To provide answers to client questions, the AI Receptionist generates a summary about your business and uses that information to provide responses. To edit the information sources, select Edit from the Information sources heading.
Your AI Receptionist will be trained based on your information, including your:

Company settings & website (as entered in Settings > Company Settings)
In addition to basic information like hours of business, a short summary of your business will be generated based on your website to teach you AI Receptionist about your business. If you do not have a website listed in your company settings, a basic summary will be generated which can be adjusted later. -
Request form
When booking work requests, your AI Receptionist will use the questions that have been set up on your request form to create work requests. -
Online booking settings
When booking directly into your schedule, your AI Receptionist uses your online booking settings to determine which team members to schedule for appointments as well as the services that can be booked.
Automate your task creation
Your AI Receptionist automatically adds requests and jobs to your schedule based on the phone and text message conversations it handles.
If a customer calls or texts your AI Receptionist and isn't ready to schedule a job or submit a request, your AI Receptionist will create a task in your calendar for you to follow-up. Select View AI Receptionist activity to see a summary of this conversation.
The task created by your AI Receptionist will be assigned to all admin users and will be scheduled for the same day the call occurred. If the call occurred after business hours, the task will be set for the following day.
Tasks appear in your Jobber home, schedule, and activity feed. If the task is created during business hours, you will also receive a push notification through the Jobber mobile app.

What exactly does the AI Receptionist do?

How do I control when my AI Receptionist is active?
You have full control over when your AI Receptionist is on or off for calls and/or text messages. You can turn it on so it can take calls and respond to texts when you're unavailable, and turn it off when you're ready to start your day. At this time, this is done directly from a toggle on your AI Receptionist dashboard in Jobber.
Is my AI Receptionist available 24/7?
Yes, once activated, the AI Receptionist can manage inquiries and requests around the clock, ensuring you never miss a potential client.
What if I get multiple calls at the same time?
Your AI Receptionist can handle concurrent calls at once. If you have an influx of customer calls, your AI Receptionist will be able to handle them all at the same time.
How can I use my AI Receptionist with my existing phone number?
You must have a Jobber dedicated phone number to use the AI Receptionist. However, you can use call forwarding to redirect calls made to another phone number, to your Jobber dedicated phone number. Check with your phone provider to learn how to forward calls to your AI Receptionist after business hours, after a certain number of rings.
What if my AI Receptionist doesn't know an answer to a client's question?
Your AI Receptionist will be trained to handle the most common questions, but if it encounters something it doesn’t know, it can direct the client to contact you directly. You will be able to see a transcript of every conversation that your receptionist has with your clients.
Will using the AI Receptionist affect my relationship with existing clients?
AI Receptionist is designed to complement your existing client interactions, handling routine tasks so you can focus on more personalized service.
How can I share feedback?
Your feedback is crucial for refining and shaping the future of AI Receptionist. To give feedback:
- Select AI Receptionist from your side navigation, then select the Manage tab.
- Locate the "Help shape the future of AI Receptionist" card and select Give Feedback.
Where can I see a log of my AI Receptionist's conversations?
You can view recent conversation logs—including summaries,transcripts, and call recordings—by following these steps:
- Select AI Receptionist from your side navigation to jump to the AI Receptionist dashboard.
- From the Recent Conversations section, locate the conversation you're interested in.
- Select the View Details button to see:
- The client's name
- Their phone number
- Property address
- A summary of the conversation
- The call recording
- The transcript
Your historical call logs can be found by navigating to Reports > Call Logs. The call logs report includes both phone calls and text messages.
