Overview

Keeping your Jobber account secure protects your business, your clients, and your data. Whether we’ve sent you a security notice or you just want to be proactive, use the steps below to help keep your account safe.

Work through these at your own pace. Each step tightens your account security.

Step 1: Secure your devices

Before changing any passwords or checking your accounts, make sure the device you’re using is safe. If someone still has access to your device, they may be able to see or undo any changes you make.

The steps to check and secure your device depend on what you’re using, such as a phone or computer. Search for something like “how to secure my [device type] after a hack” and follow instructions from trusted sources like Apple, Google, or Microsoft.

Step 2: Secure your email account

Your Jobber account is only as secure as the email address it’s linked to. If someone gains access to your email, they may be able to reset your Jobber password and access your account. Start here before you change any settings in Jobber.

  • Update your email password. See your email provider’s help or support documentation for the steps to take
  • If your organization uses a custom email domain, check with your IT team or admin since other people at your company may need new passwords too
  • Review your email filters and forwarding rules for anything you don’t recognize or didn’t set up yourself

Step 3: Reset your Jobber account password

To keep your Jobber account secure, use a strong password:

  • Use a strong password with upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Create a new password rather than reusing a previous password.
  • Don’t share your password with other people.
  • Use a different password for your Jobber account than other logins.

To reset your password:

  1. Select the Gear Icon, then select Manage Team from the drop-down.
  2. Select your user profile from the list.
  3. Select Change password.

Step 4: Review recent account activity

Look over your account for anything that doesn’t look right such as unexpected changes to clients, jobs, invoices, or team members. You know your business best, so trust your instincts if something looks off.

  • Check for any new team members or admin users you didn’t add
  • Review your users list for any profiles that were updated or changed without your knowledge
  • Check your account settings for any changes to business information
  • Review your client list for any clients added or deleted that you don’t recognize
  • Look for changes to your bank account or payment details in billing settings
  • Review recent client communications for anything sent without your knowledge

If you find something unexpected, make a note and contact Jobber Support.

Step 5: Check connected apps and integrations

Apps and integrations you’ve connected to Jobber can reach your data. Review what’s connected and remove anything you don’t recognize or no longer use.

  • Remove integrations you didn’t set up or no longer actively use
  • If an app you do use looks unfamiliar, check with the team member who may have set it up

To review your apps and account connections:

  1. Select the Gear Icon, then select Settings from the drop-down.
  2. Navigate to the Connected apps section in the settings menu.
  3. Review your Account Connections along with any other apps listed in that section.

Use AI tools for account security

AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude can help with general security questions like understanding what two-factor authentication (2FA) means, or thinking through what to check in your account. They’re a useful starting point for learning about good security habits at your own pace. That said, never share your actual passwords, account credentials, or sensitive business data with any AI tool. For anything specific to your Jobber account, our Support team is the right resource.
