Overview
Comms is the inbox in the Jobber app that shows the emails and text messages Jobber sends to your clients and leads on your behalf. Jobber groups the messages by client, so you can check that a quote, invoice, or reminder went out without opening each client, job, or invoice.
Comms is currently read-only and works in the Jobber app only. To review sent messages on jobber.com, use the Client communications report.
Comms is available on all plans for accounts that haven’t set up two-way text messaging. View our current pricing plans.
To check what plan you’re on, navigate to the Gear Icon, then select Account and Billing. If you have any questions about your plan’s features or pricing, our support team is here to help.
How to open Comms
In the Jobber app, tap the speech bubble icon in the top right corner of the home screen. Comms opens with a list of the clients and leads who have received messages. Accounts that have set up two-way text messaging and a dedicated phone number see Message Center there instead.
How Comms organizes messages
Each row in the Comms list shows the client’s name, a preview of the latest message, when Jobber sent it, an icon for email or text, and a Client or Lead label. The row with the most recent message appears at the top.
Tap a row to see every email and text message sent to that client or lead in one thread. From there, you can open the client’s details.
Tap a message to open its details. They show when Jobber sent the message, who it went to and who sent it, the full message, and any attachments. For emails, the details also show the subject and when your client opened the email. If Jobber couldn’t deliver an email, Comms shows a Bounced label under the message and in its details.
Under a message about a quote, invoice, job, or request, Comms shows a card for that item. Tap the card to open the item. Your clients don’t see this card.
To see new messages, pull down from the top of the list to refresh it.
See which messages Comms shows
Comms includes these messages:
- Emails Jobber sends on your behalf, such as quotes, invoices, reminders, and booking confirmations
- Text messages Jobber sends on your behalf
See what your clients see
Comms shows a preview of each message as your client receives it. If a message includes a private client hub link, Comms shows “[PRIVATE CLIENT HUB LINK]” in place of the link. Your client sees the real link in the message they receive.
User permissions for Comms
Comms in the Jobber app follows the permissions you set for your team. A team member needs the Client communications permission to see messages. To turn it on, see User permissions.
Comms also respects permissions for quotes, jobs, and invoices. If a team member can’t see invoices, they see “Invoice sent” instead of the contents of an invoice email. The same applies to other work items they can’t access.
If you’ve set up two-way text messaging and a dedicated phone number, the Jobber app shows Message Center instead of Comms. Message Center lets you reply to clients. For details, see Two-way text messaging in the Jobber app.
