Overview

Jobber Bookkeeping connects your business bank accounts directly to Jobber and pairs you with a dedicated bookkeeper, so your transactions get categorized, reconciled, and reviewed monthly without you leaving Jobber or reconciling anything yourself.

Bookkeeping availability

Jobber Bookkeeping is available to paying accounts in the United States. It isn’t available on a trial, or to franchise or distribution channel (DC) accounts. If you don’t see the Bookkeeping tab and believe you’re eligible, contact our support team.

Where to find Bookkeeping

The Bookkeeping tab appears in the left-hand navigation for every eligible account.

See your business finances at a glance

Select Bookkeeping to open the Bookkeeping overview page. This page shows:

  • A profit and loss summary
  • Month-over-month charts for revenue, expenses, and profit
  • A tasks panel showing your month-by-month closed-books status and any open tasks from your bookkeeper
  • Revenue and expense pie charts broken down by category

Note: Before your intro call with your bookkeeper, the overview page shows a banner explaining that your numbers are still syncing and your data may look incomplete. This resolves once your bookkeeper reviews your accounts on your intro call.

Review your bank transactions

Select Bank Transactions from the Bookkeeping navigation to see every account you’ve connected and every transaction from them.

Each connected bank account and credit card appears as its own tile under Linked Accounts, showing its balance. Select Add Account at any time to connect another bank account or credit card.

Below the account tiles, every transaction from your connected accounts appears automatically with its date, merchant, amount, and category. A transaction shows as processing while Jobber categorizes it.

Categories come from the Chart of Accounts you set up with your bookkeeper during onboarding. Transactions are categorized as they arrive, not by you. If Jobber can’t determine a category, it goes to your bookkeeper. Only if your bookkeeper also can’t determine it does it become a task for you to resolve.

Review your financial statements

Select Financial Statements from the Bookkeeping navigation to see four statements: profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and trial balance, along with income and expense reports.

You can customize any of these for the following time periods:

  • Annual
  • Monthly
  • Quarterly
  • Custom (choose your own date range)

You can also group statements by time period for a different view, or switch to a collapsed view for a summary. Select Download to save any statement.

Connect a bank account or credit card

Anyone with access to Bookkeeping can connect a bank account or credit card. Connecting an account lets Jobber pull in its transactions automatically, so your bookkeeper can start categorizing and reconciling them.

To connect an account:

  1. Select Bank Transactions from the Bookkeeping navigation, then select Add Account.
  2. Enter your phone number and confirm it with a one-time code, or continue with your email instead.
  3. Find your banking institution from the list. If your bank isn’t listed, it isn’t available to connect yet.
  4. Review your bank’s terms and the permissions Jobber is requesting, then select Continue.
  5. Log in to your bank account in the window that opens, and grant the requested permissions.

Jobber returns you to the Bank Transactions page automatically once the connection finishes, with a confirmation message.

Repeat these steps to connect additional bank accounts or credit cards. Each connected account appears as its own tile under Linked Accounts on the Bank Transactions page.

Note: This connection is read-only. Jobber can’t move money or take any action on your accounts on your behalf.

Get help from your bookkeeper

During setup through your Jobber account, booking a call with your bookkeeper is part of the onboarding process. If you work with an account manager, they will book a call with your bookkeeper for you.

To reach your bookkeeper directly, email [email protected]. Once you’ve had your kickoff call, your bookkeeper can also reach you by text.

Cancel Bookkeeping

Select Account and Billing, then cancel the Bookkeeping add-on the same way you’d cancel any other add-on.

Bookkeeping and QuickBooks Online

Bookkeeping doesn’t replace your QuickBooks Online sync. That continues to work separately.
